It’s been a long time coming, but my latest novel finally has publication dates. December 2nd for the ebook and December 8th 2022 for the paperback. It’s called WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT and you can check it out (and pre-order!!) everywhere, including your local bookshop and library. Pre-orders (along with reviews) are the best way you can support an author.

I’m really excited to be chatting with bestselling author and Edgar Award winner Alex Marwood on September 23rd at the Hastings Literary Festival. Find out about the event (and others) and get tickets here: https://www.hastingsbookfest.org/events/the-island-of-lost-girls
And here’s a panel where I chatted about all my books, including the new one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUdTLNFSuwM
Readers in Italy loved the digital version of Her Deadly Secret – thrillingly retitled Segreto Mortale. So it’s now available in paperback.
Here’s the stylish new jacket cover.
I love it. Let me know what you think.
I was thrilled to be on the (very short) shortlist for the 2021 CWA Margery Allingham short story competition.
If you sign up for my website I’ll be sending it out to subscribers, along with other short listed and prize winning shorts.
Like everyone else I had to cancel all my plans for 2020 and early 2021. What I’m missing most is the chance to talk to readers and fellow authors. But we are finding ways to connect online. The UK Crime Book Club, in particular, has been a wonderful support for writers and readers during the pandemic.
Here’s a reading I recorded for UKCBC from The Guesthouse.
In January 202I I chatted to the brilliant Kate Riordan. I love all her books and particularly her latest The Heatwave. You can find my review of the book right here on my Recommended Reads page and here’s our talk.

And this is a short excerpt from ALL THE LITTLE LIES recorded for Christmas 2020. Enjoy!
Earlier in the year Spookfest helped to make autumn a bit more exciting!
I kicked off the festival along with the brilliant writers Victoria Dowd and Rhiannon (Sarah) Ward. We’ve all recently written dark and spooky novels and talked all things gothic (and more). The rest of the Spookfest events are also on youtube.
